My new skinnification-utensil

My new exercise bike in my living-room on 21st December, 2011.

My new skinnification utensil (see above; £99 plus £5.50 delivery-fee from Argos) arrived a week ago last Monday, just in time for me to succumb to a delightful dose of the 'flu. As a result, I haven't been well enough until now to embark upon my mission, but I resolved to make a start today, and have achieved my goal of two fifteen-minute sessions (actually 25 and 21.5 minutes respectively, as I continued cycling until the end of the songs that were playing on my computer at the time). Fifteen minutes per session may not seem like much, but it's been a long time since I've done any serious exercise, and it was quite long enough for me to work up a sweat. In fact, I haven't needed to put the fire on all night, so I've achieved a very useful additional benefit which I'd been hoping to gain from utilising the skinnification-utensil.

My plan is now to increase the length of my sessions by one minute per day until I'm doing perhaps two 45- or 60-minute sessions per day. I'm sure that will be enough to achieve the desired effect. Back in the days when I was so skinny that I kept having to haul my 30"-waist breeks up, I was in the habit of doing one daily 60-minute exercise bike session.

I'm fair' pleased with myself and feeling good!

Westward view from North Bridge, Edinburgh, on 16th December, 2011, showing dismantling of the old Market Street entrance underway, with the somewhat ramshackle-looking temporary entrance from Market Street located behind it. I am still unclear as to which position the new entrance will occupy.

Snow again

[ Miscellaneous: 2011 album on Flickr ]

Well, hello there! How lovely to see you again. Has it really been a whole eight months already? The sight which greeted me from my kitchen window upon rising on 10th December, 2011. As if Hurricane Bawbag wasn't enough to be going on with. Remember when we used to have winters when it never snowed at all in Edinburgh? We didn't realise how lucky we were!

Apostrophe-anarchy

Some serious apostrophe-anarchy seen in the window of a barber's shop in London Road, Abbeyhill, Edinburgh, on 6th December, 2011.

Whether this barber's shop is called 'Haircut's Gentlemen's' or 'Gentlemen Haircut's', it really does defy explanation. Seen in London Road, Abbeyhill, Edinburgh, on 6th December, 2011.
