Trains at Dysart

I took this series of photos with my father's Yashica TL-Electro SLR and 200mm lens during the school holidays in 1977. He must have been working for Nicol Demolition at that time; their office in was in Normand Road, Dysart. Maybe my mother had demanded that he get me out of the house. I wouldn't be surprised if she had ulterior motives, such as raking through my drawers or digging for porn mags buried at the bottom of my bedroom cupboard while I was out! She habitually did stuff like that. My father had bought a negative-enlarger and set of photographic developing and printing equipment on his return home from working in Iran, and we developed and printed these photos using either the hall cupboard or my bedroom as a makeshift darkroom. Many years later, I did most of an HND Photography course at Stevenson College in Edinburgh, and I learned that there was a great deal more to photographic processing than my father or I had known back then, so it was probably by pure luck that these images came out as well as they did. I wish I still had the negatives, but, unfortunately, they seem to have vanished, so these are scans of the few home-processed prints that I kept. I've kept all my own 35mm and 110 negatives since 1981 and I have them all in a lever-arch file, sorted into chronological order, but presumably my parents didn't consider theirs to be of any value.
