My Dying Bride and Flowing Tears at The Astoria, London, 31st October, 2003. I went to this gig for the promise of a rare UK performance by My Dying Bride, who were one of my favourite bands at the time. However, the true stars of the show were the support band, who did a neat line in punchy, melodic gothic metal songs, and had a female singer with a frankly astounding body. I mean, heeeuge knockers! I didn't know who they were at the time, but I definitely knew I wanted to hear more of them. I later found out that they were a German band called Flowing Tears, and I bought their Serpentine CD in HMV, which has proved to be one of my soundest musical investments. In fact, it's still one of my most-played CDs ten years later. They haven't released a new album for quite a few years, but I hope I haven't heard the last of them and that I'll have the opportunity to see them again.
