Keighley & Worth Valley Railway

Today, I made my first journey over the spectacular Settle & Carlisle Railway, travelling from Carlisle to Keighley in West Yorkshire. The scenery along the route was breathtaking, and it almost brought tears to my eyes to think that this railway was threatened with closure by the Tory government in 1983. Thankfully, following a massive campaign against closure, the line was reprieved, and it is once again a busy and important main line. If, by some miracle, I should ever come in to a bob-or-two some day, I would very much like to make this journey again. I then made a return trip on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, a preserved branch line running from from Keighley to Oxenhope in West Yorkshire, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I wish I'd had more time to explore the railway and its associated museums.
